Who You Gonna Call? Public Adjusters

The truth about pesky insurance companies is that they will never willingly pay more than an amount claimed by a policyholder. If you find yourself with the misfortune of suffering a total loss of damages, the level of damage must supplement everything required to restore the property back into tip top shape or what they call in the biz, “uniform and consistent” appearance.

When this occurs, who you gonna call? Its obvious because we’ve been blogging about it frequently and we can’t blog enough about how a licensed public adjuster contains the wisdom and leadership to guide you through all things insurance related. The layman, the civilian, is not equipped to recognize the complexities of insurance jargon.

Do you think an insurance company will warn you if you forgot to include something crucial in your report? Homeowners don’t know the ins and outs of the policy and its requirements to comply with certain duties after a loss.

There’s a relevant example about a recent case dealing with water leakage that damaged hardwood floor and leaked over to the basement. There was apparent damage on the floor, subfloor and basement ceiling and walls. The claims adjuster took note of all this, crunched some numbers and offered a settlement amount to the homeowner.

Because of the specific policy language, the policyholder was entitled to be paid the cost of restoring the home to “pre loss condition”. If the homeowner went with the initial offer that only covered the replacement cost of the damages, then he would have fallen short of the necessary cash required to restore his property back to its uniform and consistent appearance.

Yet again, another classic example as to how calling a licensed public adjuster helped avoid a sticky situation.
